The Democracy Rating is a evaluation done by The Economist Intelligence Unit that compares 165 independent states and two territories, and provides a rating system as to how democratic they are. The rating system is made up of a number of questions, and measures the following categories: electoral process and pluralism; civil liberties; the functioning of government; political participation; and political culture. The most recent report was released in January 2017 and can be downloaded HERE.
